Mr. Racky D. Doctor, President of Nutridense Food Manufacturing Corporation (NFMC), shared the company’s innovation journey during the TechTalk: Success Stories of Technology Adopters during the 2025 North Luzon Innovation and Technology Transfer Summit held on April 24, 2025, at Newtown Plaza Hotel, Baguio City.
Based in Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan, Nutridense has grown from a small-scale nutrition initiative into a national model of innovation-led enterprise. Since its founding in 2014, the company has focused on developing nutrient-rich food products aimed at combating malnutrition, especially among Filipino children.
A key driver of Nutridense’s growth has been its strong partnership with the Department of Science and Technology Region 1 (DOST 1) and the Provincial Science and Technology Office–Pangasinan. As a two-time beneficiary of DOST’s Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP), Nutridense has gained vital support in scaling up operations and improving its production capabilities.
Through this collaboration, the company has adopted 36 technologies developed by the DOST–Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI), allowing it to produce a diverse range of innovative, nutrition-focused products—including the enhanced Nutribun, Nutricocokies, RTE Calamansi Juice, rice monggo curls, iron-fortified rice, and high protein bars —aimed at addressing malnutrition in underserved communities.
Further advancing its science-based approach, Nutridense signed a new Technology Licensing Agreement on April 23, 2025, with the DOST-Industrial Technology Development Institute, which licenses Nutridense FMC to commercialize three (3) technologies, including the ready-to-eat chicken arroz caldo, chicken corn soup, and ginisang munggo innovated by ITDI’s Packaging Technology Division.
Nutridense’s products have supported various government nutrition programs, including the Department of Education’s school-based feeding programs across multiple divisions, the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s last three cycles of supplemental feeding, the National Nutrition Council’s Tutok Kainan Program, and nutrition programs implemented by the Department of Health and local government units. To date, Nutridense delivers to 16 regions across the Philippines and aims to expand its reach to more areas nationwide.
“Serving our customers for the past 10 years has always been an exciting accomplishment. We build partnerships to improve the lives of children and their families. Thank you for the opportunities, and we look forward to serving you more,” said Mr. Doctor.
